Tourism and Culture: Showcased by the Organization for the Management and Development of Cultural Resources
The 39th International Tourism and Hotel Equipment Exhibition, Philoxenia-Hotelia, held from November 14-16 at the Thessaloniki International Exhibition & Congress Center by HELEXPO, will highlight the interconnected and multifaceted relationship between tourism and culture, showcasing opportunities for developing sustainable destinations that respect and leverage cultural heritage.
Under the title “Experience. Culture. Everywhere. – Connecting the Dots,” the Conference will take place on Friday, November 15, at Pavilion 14 of Philoxenia-Hotelia. It is organized by the Hellenic Organization of Cultural Resources Development (H.O.C.RE.D.) in partnership with HELEXPO.
Conference attendees will hear from government representatives, academics, archaeologists, cultural sector experts, and leading tourism professionals. Discussions will focus on culture’s role in local development, opportunities for cultural growth and outreach, prospects for international expansion, and presenting tourism as a cultural experience. Special attention will be given to the H.O.C.RE.D. initiative, “Hellenic Heritage”. Notably, this year’s Philoxenia-Hotelia, dedicated to culture, marks the first participation of H.O.C.RE.D. in the event.
The Philoxenia-Hotelia Conference is part of a broader event program designed by H.O.C.RE.D., which includes interactive workshops, screenings, and thematic tours of the stands of 12 regions participating in the exhibition.
